Description:
 Not to be confused with the Clyde Blockhouse of the 1700s, this blockhouse was the home of Jonathan Melvin Jr. on the south side of the Clyde River and was where the first meeting of the Town of Galen was held in 1812.

The plaque reads:


Galen Blockhouse


Circa 1810, Johnathan Melvin Jr.

built a blockhouse here, the first

dwelling within the present village

limits. In it was held the first

meeting of the Town of Galen, 1812.
