Description:
On March 24, 1809, the NYS Legislature passed a law that authorized the formation of the Town of Wolcott from the northern portion of the Town of Junius, then part of Seneca County.  The division occurred on March 6, 1810.  On February 25, 1826 the NYS Legislature passed a law that authorized the division of Wolcott into 4 parts:  Butler, Port Bay (later renamed Huron), Rose and Wolcott.  That division took place on April 3, 1826.
