Site Name:Freewill Baptist Church Hist MarkerGPS Coordinates:43.163925, -77.304653
Address:1562 Atlantic Ave
Description:
The congregation of the Freewill church moved to the Lincoln Baptist Church.  The historic marker is there, the building is not.

The following from the Walworth Historical Society Driving Tour (2007):  "The marker remains but the church is gone.  The church was organized in 1816.  The building of cut limestone was dedicated in 1835.  This building was used for 41 years and is believed to have been an Underground Railroad station.   It was used until 1876 when the congregation built a new Church in Lincoln village where most of the parishioners lived.  In the 1940’s the church was demolished and the stone sold to a Rochester firm. The Church graveyard  (Freewill Cemetery located across  the street) is still in use today."
