This single room schoolhouse in Alton, NY served the local Alton area for several generations. It closed down in 1950 when all Town of Sodus school centralized to Sodus Central Schools. After the school was closed it was used as the offices for the Wayne Co. Extension Services and 4-H. It was later torn down and the present day Country Corner Store was rebuilt on its foundation. District #11 Alton Teachers 1813-date school opened | |||||
