Historic narrative:

Sodus Fire Department is an all volunteer Fire Department founded in 1902. Charles Fields was their first Fire Chief and they originally had 40 members. The original Fire Department was located on the West side of Mill Street at 11 Mill Street where Joe Gaudino's dry cleaning was later.

Sodus Fire Department moved into a brick building on the East side of Mill Street (pretty much where it is now) in 1917. (see photo above)

The Fire Department go their first Fire Truck pumper in April 1925 which could pump 500 gallons per minute.

On August 18, 1927, the Sodus Firemen hosted the 22nd Annual Convention of the Lake Shore Volunteer Firemen's Convention. (see photo above)

The Fire Department was incorporated in 1939 with 75 members.

The Fire Department go their second Fire Truck pumper in December 1941 which also could pump 500 gallons per minute.

The Fire Department go their third Fire Truck pumper made by Oren of Roanoke, Virginia in the fall  1946.

In 1951, they got a base 2 way radio.

The Fire Department go their fourth Fire Truck pumper made by Oren of Roanoke, Virginia in the April 1952 followed by their fifth in July 1956.

Their sixth pumper (Sanford) was received in March of 1974 and could pump 1000 gallons per minute. During that same month, their new (and present) Fire Hall was built.

A new Fire and Rescue Truck (Saulsbury) was bought in May 1981.

In January 1983, they bought a new pumper Tanker (E26). (See above photo)
