Historic narrative:

This building was built in 1878 and was used up until the early 1900s as the Sodus Opera House. In 1911 it would become the First Reformed Church. Organized in 1911, the congregation purchased the old Taylor-Thorn Opera House (guilt by Stephen Bloss and Mohn McIntyre) on Maple Avenue the following year for $3500. In the early 1940s the sheds under the building were demolished and the basement enclosed.
