Historic narrative:

This house has rectangular lintels, but still unusual - the lintels protrude with recessed centers. This 1.5-story home was built with small, red cobbles and limestone quoins. there's a wide frieze across the front. Notice the copper gutters and downspouts and the wood shingle roof.

 M. C. CUNLTINGHAM HOUSE ON THE NORTH GENEVA ROAD


This house on the North Geneva Road in the town of Sodus has been owned for the past 11 years by M. C. Cunningham.
Former owners were Hines, Buffin, and Buchanan. It is believed that the house was built about 1830.


STONES: The even red. lake stones measure 2-3 x 1+-1 3/4 inches. Courses measure 2 1/2 - 3 inches.


JOINTS: The horizontal V is 1/2 - 3/4 inches high. The vertical joint Is a pyramid.

MORTAR: The fine brown mortar is very crumbly.

QUOINS: The quoins are regular, untooled sandstone. LINTELS: The lintels are wooden.
