Historic narrative:
Organized in 1867, the congregation moved a Methodist church from South Butler to Savannah in the winter of 1869 using ten teams of horses, six to pull and four to move logs from the back to the front. In the 1950s they jacked up the building and built a basement for a kitchen and dining room.
