The name Blue Cut dates back to 1853 when a cut was made through a drumlin while building the railroad.  The Vernon Shale had a bluish cast when exposed.  Today this nature center and wildlife refuge covers over 40 acres of open land with marsh and pond, mixed hardwoods, and red pine plantation.

Surface: Dirt, mowed grass, and pine needle trails.  There are three trails and multiple end points in the trail system.  End points on the map should be thought of as “dead ends.”  The outer loop of the trail system, which includes sections of each trail, will bring you right back to the parking area.  A new picnic pavilion has been added to the Nature Center.
