Historic narrative:
The Town of Ontario was authorized on March 27, 1807 by an act of the NYS Legislature to be separated from the Town of Williamson on April 1, 1808.  At the time, what is now Walworth was part of Ontario.  On April 5, 1830 Walworth became a separate town.
