Historic narrative:

The following from Newark Courier, October 20, 1923.

Sodus Church 25 Years Old.

“The 25th anniversary of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Sodus was celebrated last Sunday. Rev. E. L. Woldt of Newark is pastor of the church. The festival sermon was delivered by Rev. C. H. Kenrich of Clyde, a former minister. Rev. Charles Behnke of Rochester had charge of the afternoon services.

St. Mark’s Church was founded in a hall at South Sodus, owned by Charles j. Rehkuler, on October 17, 1902, and Rev. Fred Kroneke of St. Mark’s Church of Rochester organized the small band of Lutherans into a congregation. In January 1903, Rev. A. Benet of North Tonawanda accepted the pastorate.

… Property known as the Watson store was used for meeting 1903. In 1904, improvements were made to the property, including the removal of the porch and construction of a vestibule.” … The church was improved several times under a number of different ministers’ leaderships.
