Camp Beechwood (now Camp Beechwood State Park) was in operation from 1928-1996. This was the second summer camp site established by the Rochester Girl Scout Council; it was their only summer overnight camp until about 1961, when Camp Pinewood was opened, in Arkport, NY – south of Stony Brook State Park (at that time, Camp Beechwood became the site for younger campers/scouts, ages 8-11 yrs old).  When the camp closed, New York State purchased the property; it’s now a public park maintained by the Town of Sodus.
