The first building was built of logs and shortly after that, the first cemetery was situated a few steps to the east (its exact location ahs been lost). Perhaps this put a slight damper on the otherside high-spirited scholars. Alvin Clark, am early teacher, was well-remembered for his strictness. 

A red structure followed next ans then the white frame building that was remodereled, enlarged and became the Sunnyside Church. (The center section of the church will be recognized as the original schoolhouse.).
