Historic narrative:
It was built in the 1870s by Charles Bissell who rented the land from John Gillette. Apparently Mr. Bissell made wooden chopping bowls. When Mrs. Gillette occupied the house after her husband's death, she found hundreds of wooden bowls with some defect in the attic. The 2-story house built in the shape of an octagon with a cupola on top. A screened porch porch on the south side was built during the 1950s. The porch has since been enclosed.
