Esker

Description:
Esker: A long narrow ridge or mound of sand, gravel and boulders deposited by a stream flowing on, within, or beneath a  stagnant glacier.

 
Beginning with the Rose Cemetery, follow the lines down and across the road. (1949 U. S. Geological Service Topographical map)
 
Historic narrative:
Some people say that the bodies buried in Rose Cemetery mummify rather than decay because the gravel keeps them so dry.
